In an EMERGENCY: Projects may start before the Energy Office approves the loan in these two situations:
- Heating system fails or is red-tagged during the winter months (September through May)
- Cooling system fails during the summer months (May through August) and is related to verifiable medical reasons
Getting a loan can be easy just by following these few simple steps:
1. Complete the correct form related to the home improvement. These forms are available by visiting http://www.neo.ne.gov/loan/index.html or contacting AmFirst Bank.
2. Complete a home equity loan application from AmFirst Bank.
3. Obtain price quotes or bids from contractors, dealers or installers, but do not proceed with any construction. Attach the quotes to the correct form.
4. Bring the completed forms and application to AmFirst Bank to start the loan process.
5. All qualifying work should be completed within 5 months after the Energy Office’s commitment of funds.
